We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our School of Education which has a long and proud history in teacher education, a reputation for outstanding graduates and Early Career Teachers, and an enviable network of committed partner schools and other key stakeholders.
Role Overview
You will be appointed as a Lecturer of RE, leading secondary RE education working within the secondary ITE team. The School of Education at LJMU is renowned for the quality and strength of its undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, along with a growing reputation for international partnerships and collaborative research. Student numbers on QTS programmes total between 500-600 per year. Student experience is at the heart of everything we do. The quality of our ITE programmes and the development of socially engaged teachers – delivered through a team of committed and forward‑thinking academic teams – is recognised by Ofsted and in the wider community.
Responsibilities
- Ensure provision is to a high standard and compliant with DfE and OfS requirements.
- Contribute to the planning, design and development of modules, programmes and curriculum changes (including adaptations resulting from DfE mandated frameworks) to deliver high‑quality teaching materials and associated student assessment activities.
- At Grade 7 this may involve module leadership.
- Lead the subject specialist curriculum provision for our secondary student teachers.
- Contribute to generic aspects of the ITE programmes and supervise practice‑based learning across a number of schools within our partnership.
- Demonstrate evidence‑based teaching and engagement in real‑world research activity, inspiring and collaborating for outstanding experience and outcomes for our students.
Qualifications
- Relevant undergraduate degree with QTS, or PGCE (QTS) with a track record of successful RE teaching with secondary age students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment that has both academic and professional practice requirements and compliance demands, including internal and external auditing and inspection.
- Ability and attitude to inspire and collaborate for outstanding experience and outcomes for students.
