Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Academic Skills Tutor to join the Library's Academic Success Team. In this rewarding role, you will support students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines develop the academic skills, confidence and resilience needed to succeed throughout their university journey.
Working closely with colleagues across the Library, Faculties, Schools and the Teaching and Learning Academy, you will design and deliver innovative learning development support through workshops, tutorials, curriculum-based teaching and one-to-one appointments. You will play a key role in embedding academic skills within academic programmes, enhancing student engagement, retention and progression, and contributing to an exceptional student experience.
We are looking for an individual with experience of teaching or facilitating learning development within higher education or a similar environment. You will have a strong understanding of learning development pedagogy, academic writing conventions and technology-enhanced learning, alongside excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills. You will contribute to the development of high-quality online and face-to-face learning resources, support targeted student initiatives, and use evidence-informed practice to drive continuous improvement.
You will also have opportunities to lead projects, collaborate with academic colleagues on curriculum enhancement, and represent LJMU within professional networks.
