Job Description:
The Department of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at the University of Liverpool is seeking to appoint a colleague to a fixed-term teaching and scholarship position in Classics / Classical Studies, including Greek and Latin language. The appointment is linked to research leave granted by a Fellowship from the Loeb Classical Library Foundation for the academic year 2025-26.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a broad range of teaching activities aimed at students in Ancient History, Classics, and Classical Studies. Responsibilities include teaching Greek and Latin languages, ancient literature, and culture. An additional desirable attribute is the ability to contribute to a second-year module on Herodotus’ Histories. The role involves participating in undergraduate and postgraduate taught modules and supervising undergraduate dissertations.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant subject and a Good Honours degree or equivalent in a classical discipline. Please note, this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; applicants must demonstrate their own right to work in the UK.
