We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate wishing to contribute to an exciting evidence synthesis project with direct clinical and policy relevance, funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme. This post will be based in the Department of Primary Care and Mental Health within the Global Mental Health Research Group and the Liverpool Review and Implementation Group (LRIG), working closely with Professor Catrin Tudur Smith and Dr Ahmed Waqas.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on a network meta-analysis of psychosocial interventions for military personnel with Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a significant mental health condition affecting many serving and former military personnel due to repeated exposure to traumatic events before, during and after service. Although a wide range of psychological interventions exist, important uncertainties remain regarding which treatments are most effective, which specific therapeutic components drive benefit, and which approaches offer good economic value. The findings aim to inform clinical practice, policy decisions, and their applicability across diverse military settings.

The post offers an excellent opportunity to undertake high-quality research within a stimulating, multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team at the University of Liverpool and engage with healthcare partners and local public and patient involvement and engagement groups. The wider team brings extensive expertise in mental health service delivery, evidence synthesis, health economics, and stakeholder engagement.

Initial funding is for one year, however, there is scope for extension subject to funding.

Commitment to Diversity: The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
