About Liverpool Hope Students’ Union (LHSU): We are the Students’ Union for Liverpool Hope University, which is ranked No. 1 in the Northwest for Student voice and Students’ Union representation of academic interests. Our ambition is to enrich each student’s experience throughout their studies and to inspire them for life beyond university. We are a caring organisation which provides an inclusive community for students. We actively listen to our students and continually develop ways to engage, support and represent them, leading to positive change.
We are specifically seeking External Trustees who can be effective members of our Turnaround Board at a pivotal moment for LHSU. This would be an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on the Students’ Union to ensure our decisions are made in the best interests of our students whilst maintaining strong governance, financial stability and legal obligations. Responsibilities:- Attending a minimum of three Board of Trustees meetings per year.
- Jointly approve organisational policies and our annual budget.
- Hold the organisation to account by monitoring our performance and progress.
- Provide support to the senior manager.
- Be available for email correspondence if urgent decisions are required.
- Act in accordance with charity and company law as required by the Charity Commission.
- Prepare for Board meetings by reading all papers in advance to enable a productive Board meeting.
- Experience of leading organisations through change.
- Strategic insight into operations, financial sustainability and legal obligations.
- Experience supporting organisations to set and monitor targets and KPIs.
- Strong networking skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential; we value transferable skills and a commitment to good governance.
