We are seeking a highly motivated Physical Performance Coach to join our Medical and Performance Department. Reporting to the PGA Medical Lead, the successful candidate will bring proven experience delivering elite‑level physical preparation within professional football. They will demonstrate high professional standards, strong collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary team, and a drive to contribute to an integrated, high‑performance environment. This role will work directly with the women’s PGA players; therefore, experience working with female athletes is desirable.

The successful candidate will design and deliver gym and pitch‑based strength, speed, and football‑specific conditioning programmes tailored to both team objectives and individual player needs. Delivery will align with agreed departmental frameworks and support consistent preparation, availability, and performance progression.

What you will be doing:

  • Individual Player Physical Development
    • Design, implement, and review individualised strength, speed, power, movement and endurance conditioning programmes for PGA players.
  • Profiling, Testing and Monitoring
    • Conduct pre‑season and in‑season physical testing and monitoring for strength, power, speed, movement and endurance capabilities.
    • Develop and maintain individual player physical profiles.
    • Monitor external and internal load through tools such as GPS, RPE, wellness, and heart rate.
    • Analyse performance data and produce reports to inform coaching decisions.
    • Evaluate progress and adapt programmes based on outcomes.
  • Session Planning and Delivery
    • Deliver gym‑and pitch‑based sessions aligned to football demands and player development stages.
    • Plan and periodise training across pre‑season, in‑season, and transition phases.
    • Support matchday preparation and recovery protocols.
  • Injury Prevention and Injury Rehabilitation
    • Deliver injury prevention strategies and pre‑rehabilitation programmes.
    • Contribute to return‑to‑train and return‑to‑play pathways.
    • Support rehabilitation through progressive conditioning and re‑integration.
    • Track injury trends and adapt strategies to reduce risk.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration
    • Align physical programmes with the club’s football philosophy and pathway.
    • Contribute to individual development plans and performance reviews.
    • Act as a key point of contact and lead on the sharing of information regarding PGA physical performance for the women’s first team practitioners and the LFCW Leadership team.
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the physical performance provision across the player development pathway including the PGA and the LFC Foundation squads.
    • Line manage and support the development of the Physical Performance Coach responsible for the U16s squad.
    • Establish clear performance standards, objectives, and regular review processes to ensure high‑quality delivery across all age groups.
    • Mentor and develop staff through observation, feedback, and professional development planning.
    • Facilitate regular departmental meetings to support communication, collaboration, and shared learning.
  • Innovation, Research and CPD
    • Stay current with sports science and women’s football performance research.
    • Contribute to innovation in training, monitoring, and recovery strategies.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain accreditation.
    • Support departmental projects and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in strength and conditioning within an elite sporting environment.
  • Experience in player monitoring and workload management.
  • Experience in collection and management of physical data.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to create positive working relationships with all key stakeholders, including players and players' families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a professional environment.
  • Willingness to work regular weekends and evenings.
  • MSc in Strength and Conditioning or postgraduate related.
  • BSc in Strength and Conditioning or related field.
  • United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) Accredited Conditioning Coach (ASCC).
  • Football Association Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF).
  • United Kingdom Anti‑Doping (UKAD) Introduction to Clean Sport.
  • FA Safeguarding Children Course.
  • Leadership and Management Experience.
