We are seeking an Academy Physiotherapist responsible for the medical provision during training & match days for academy players aged 9-14. Oversee the daily rehabilitation of U9-14 players, as well as assisting in the rehabilitation of other age groups with the professional development phase therapists. This role requires close work with members of the MDT, specifically physical performance, fitness coaches, and coaches; with the primary MDT team being that of the U14s age group.
What you will be doing
- Ensuring the health of all youth players aged 9-14.
- Providing medical care on all aspects of players' health under the guidance and with the authority of the head of academy physiotherapy and academy doctor to include liaising with the doctor around obtaining specialist opinions, attending appointments with and liaising with the team on outcomes for 9-14 players.
- Diagnosing and establishing treatment and rehabilitation plans for players in the youth development phase.
- Implementation of preventative strategies.
- Show evidence of having experience in the management and rehabilitation of players in this age group.
- Experience in collection, analysis and interpretation of data on growth phases in this age group.
- Collaborating with football coaching staff, player care, psychology and safeguarding to optimise youth player performance and overall health.
- Attending consultations with specialists to ensure that appropriate treatment decisions are made, if requested.
- Maintaining contemporaneous medical notes to an exemplary standard and ensuring note keeping systems are up to date.
- Ensuring high levels of professionalism and patient confidentiality.
- Actively contributing to multi-disciplinary meetings for the youth development phase regarding player rehabs, injuries etc.
What we are looking for
- Qualified chartered physiotherapist.
- Member of the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment.
- Ability to demonstrate role model behaviours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Understanding of the pressures and commitments required for students/youth players involved in higher level youth football (or other elite youth sports development awareness).
- The ability to create an ethos which promotes high aspirations and achievement for all.
- An understanding of support strategies for the student/youth player emotional needs, including safeguarding.
- Demonstrate the ability to create positive working relationships with all key stakeholders.
