We are seeking a passionate and experienced U21 Academy Performance Analyst to support the development of Professional Development Phase (PDP) players as they transition toward first‑team football. Working closely with U21 coaches, you will lead and deliver elite, evidence‑based video and data analysis across pre‑match, live, and post‑match phases, providing performance insights that enhance both individual player development and team performance. This role is central to the club’s player pathway, requiring strong experience within elite academy environments and a genuine commitment to preparing young players for the professional game.

Responsibilities

  • Pre‑Match Analysis — you will proactively lead the preparation of insightful pre‑match opposition analysis, providing coaching staff with clear and concise insights on tactical trends, strengths, weaknesses, and key player profiles to help inform match strategy and game planning. You will also contribute to the preparation of engaging pre‑match resources designed to support player understanding and awareness.
  • Live Analysis — you’ll play a key role in the delivery of comprehensive live analysis on matchdays, leading the real‑time capture and coding of video footage to provide coaching staff with clear, timely, and actionable insights that support in‑game decision making and half‑time feedback.
  • Post‑Match Analysis — you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to support the delivery and development of post‑match analysis processes, helping to educate players and colleagues on its application and value, while aiding the creation of impactful post‑match materials for players to encourage reflection and discourse around key learnings, and areas for ongoing improvement.
  • Training Analysis — you’ll be actively involved in the capturing of training footage, using your initiative to strike the right balance between collection and usage, providing feedback and linking training footage to identified team and individual development areas.
  • Performance Tracking — you will support the objective tracking of team and individual performance through the analysis, interpretation and visualisation of third‑party data sources. This includes contributing to the measurement of game model principles and player development, while maintaining video databases linked to Individual Development Plans to document progress over time through training and match footage against agreed development goals.
  • Coach Education — you’ll contribute to the ongoing development of the Academy’s philosophy by applying best practice from training and match footage analysis. You will also work closely with the Academy Performance Analysis Lead and Academy Director to continuously enhance and update core session content and game model libraries.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in elite football analysis — You bring a strong track record of delivering high‑level performance analysis within the professional game, underpinned by a deep technical & tactical understanding of football.
  • Experience within academy football — You have demonstrable experience working in youth development settings and understand best practice in supporting player growth through performance analysis.
  • Effective communicator — You can clearly and confidently present performance insights to coaches and multidisciplinary staff, tailoring your communication to different audiences.
  • Adaptable and detail‑focused — You thrive in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining accuracy and high standards while adapting quickly to changing demands and priorities.
  • Advanced technical proficiency — You are highly competent in key analysis tools such as Hudl Sportscode, Studio & Insight, Apple Keynote, Tableau and Microsoft Office, using them confidently to produce high‑quality outputs.
