This apprenticeship role will lead to the achievement of a Level 3 qualification as a Community Sport & Health Officer. Training, support and development will be provided to help the apprentice progress towards full competence across the required range of activities.
The qualification at level 3 demonstrates the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to complete tasks and address problems of a moderate level of complexity. It includes taking responsibility for initiating and completing tasks and procedures, while exercising autonomy and judgement within limited parameters. The apprentice will work in the Education & Life Skills team, gaining exposure to other areas of the business to experience a wide range of activities and situations.
Responsibilities
- Update LFC Foundation’s reporting database
- Deliver programmes in various environments
- Plan and prepare before delivery to ensure that careful considerations are made for all abilities, ages and SEND considerations
- Ensure that all activities are delivered in line with the current LFC Foundation curriculum and objectives, both in sporting and classroom settings
- Deliver extracurricular club programmes
- Work closely with primary school teachers to provide support and advice to improve their confidence in delivering PE
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with LFC Foundation partner schools and their key staff, including head teachers, PE coordinators, receptionists and other staff
- Liaise directly with partner schools to support and promote additional LFC Foundation activity
- Collect the appropriate monitoring and evaluation documentation and assist in the upkeep of VIEWS online monitoring and evaluation system in a timely and effective manner
- Ensure all activities are correctly monitored with the appropriate risk assessment and health and safety measures
- Show willingness to improve through continuous personal development and courses
- Understand safeguarding policies and procedures, as the well-being of young people is paramount at the LFC Foundation
- Support camps and half-term activations
- Attend and contribute to team meetings
- Ensure LFC Foundation quality and safeguarding standards are achieved and maintained at all times
Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Sound understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and its application in the role of coach
- Awareness of safeguarding issues when working with children and young people
- Ability to perform under pressure and adapt accordingly

Desirable Skills
- Additional sports coaching awards/qualifications
- Experience delivering education/classroom-based lessons
- FA Level 1 in Coaching Football qualification
- Sport development background
- Understanding of the LFC Foundation sport and football programmes
- Experience in mentoring adults
- Report/case study experience
- Understanding of the process of managing data to evidence impact
- 1st 4sport Level 1 award in multi-skill development in sport
- Proven track record of delivering sports and classroom-based education in schools and/or community settings that engage young people of all ages and abilities
Contract & Compensation
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 18 months, with a 30-hour per week schedule. The role is based at Anfield Sports & Community Centre, Liverpool, but the post holder will be required to work from other locations across Merseyside and may be asked to travel within England and Wales.
