We are looking for a Senior Manager, Research to join the team at Liverpool FC. You will lead all research activity across the Club and its partners, delivering deep supporter insight, market analysis and actionable recommendations that drive revenue growth and fan engagement. Acting as the club-wide subject matter expert, you will champion best-in-class research methods, share insights across departments and senior stakeholders, and collaborate with external agencies and partners to maximise brand impact. Based within the Marketing team, this role works cross-functionally and regularly presents findings and strategic recommendations to senior audiences.

What will you be doing?

  • Own and lead all market research activity, acting as the Clubs subject matter expert and supporting both internal and partner objectives.
  • Define and deliver the research strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and future growth plans.
  • Manage the research budget, planning annual requirements and overseeing spend to ensure value and cost control.
  • Collaborate with the wider insights team to connect research findings with database and digital insights.
  • Partner with stakeholders across all departments, including executive level, to deliver and present research outputs.
  • Lead supporter insight programmes, using qualitative and quantitative methods to understand fan behaviour and sentiment.
  • Design and deliver qualitative research, including focus groups and in-depth interviews.
  • Support research needs across key business areas including retail, ticketing, partnerships, and fan experience.
  • Provide insight for fan engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and grow the research community (Your Voice), driving engagement and actionable feedback.
  • Present research and brand impact findings to official partners and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with research agencies and data providers, from selection to delivery of insights.
  • Distribute third-party research and industry intelligence to inform business decision-making.
  • Understand broadcast audience insight, working with key stakeholders to track global reach and trends.
  • Ensure robust data analysis, applying statistical methods and advanced tools to maintain accuracy.
  • Deliver clear, compelling insight through strong data visualisation and storytelling.
  • Ensure all research complies with GDPR and market research standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing research team.
  • Share best practice and insight across the marketing team and wider business.
  • Stay current on research trends and innovations to continuously evolve capability.
  • Champion a data-driven culture across the Club.

Who are we looking for?

  • Significant, proven experience working within a research function, with proven experience of leading that function and managing a team of experts.
  • Degree educated with relevant degree (business/marketing or statistical/mathematical).
  • Breadth of research expertise across qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Proficiency in utilizing research tools, survey platforms, and data analysis software.
  • Proven experience of managing 3rd party agencies.
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven use of AI techniques for data analysis.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to ensure influence change and decision making and experience of influencing external clients & brands (agencies & Partners) at senior levels with key insight and findings.
  • Strong understanding of the current research landscape.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and research ethics to ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
