We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Network Infrastructure Engineer. You will support and evolve the Club’s core IT infrastructure, ensuring platforms are secure, resilient, compliant and aligned to the target operating model. Working under the Senior Infrastructure Manager, the role helps define infrastructure standards, lifecycle planning, automation and resilience across on‑premise and cloud environments. Acting as a senior technical specialist, you will work with internal teams and strategic third parties to deliver consistent, compliant services, reduce risk and support Premier League and security requirements. The role provides 3rd‑line technical escalation when required, including during match days and critical stadium operations, with a focus on delivering stable, well‑monitored infrastructure to support the Club’s transformation and future growth.
What will you be doing?
- Design, deliver and evolve core IT infrastructure across cloud and on‑premise platforms, aligned to agreed standards and roadmaps.
- Support and optimise Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Entra, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) with a focus on security, resilience and consistency.
- Manage identity, endpoint and access services (Active Directory, Intune), ensuring secure, compliant and well‑documented operation.
- Lead the management and rationalisation of on‑premise and legacy infrastructure, reducing end‑of‑life and operational risk.
- Define, maintain and help enforce infrastructure standards, documentation, policies and procedures across internal teams and suppliers.
- Act as a 3rd line escalation point for complex or high‑impact incidents, including match days and critical stadium operations.
- Work with third‑party suppliers and managed service providers to resolve incidents, assure quality and drive service improvement.
- Support delivery of infrastructure projects and audit, risk and remediation initiatives.
- Drive automation and standardisation to improve reliability, efficiency and repeatability of infrastructure services.
- Identify and implement service improvements with minimal impact to end users, embedding continuous improvement and best practice.
- Collaborate with Service Desk and 2nd line teams to improve escalation, knowledge transfer and reduce specialist dependency.
- Support network, shared services and security infrastructure (networking, platforms, patching, backup, security controls), ensuring resilience, compliance and recoverability.
- Contribute to vendor and supplier management through service reviews, performance monitoring and standards compliance.
Who are we looking for?
- Significant experience working in enterprise IT infrastructure environments, operating at a senior level beyond routine 2nd or 3rd line support.
- Proven experience contributing to infrastructure transformation initiatives, including the design, implementation or migration of core infrastructure services.
- Strong, first‑hand experience across a range of infrastructure technologies and operating models, including traditional on‑premise environments and modern cloud-first or hybrid architectures.
- Solid technical experience in network and connectivity solutions, including exposure to SD‑WAN, network segmentation, network modelling and capacity planning.
- Experience designing or implementing secure access and connectivity models, including elements of SASE, identity‑based access and zero trust principles.
- Good understanding of infrastructure resilience and recoverability, including redundancy, backup, disaster recovery, RTO and RPO concepts.
- Experience operating in environments with external compliance or regulatory requirements, supporting remediation and improvement activity.
- Experience contributing to infrastructure standards, design documentation, automation or lifecycle planning to reduce risk and technical debt.
- Experience working with third‑party suppliers or managed service providers, supporting design assurance, implementation and service improvement.
- Able to act as a senior technical escalation point, contributing to root cause analysis and preventative actions for complex or high‑impact incidents.
Why should you apply?
This is a full‑time permanent role working 35 hours per week. Your main base will be our Anfield office, you will also be required to work at other LFC offices from time to time, as required.
