We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as Supervisor in our Distribution Centre. Our warehouse is at the centre of our business, so we are looking for a highly motivated supervisor with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with people at all levels. You will be responsible for managing all day-to-day warehouse operations.
The Supervisor leads a team of warehouse operatives during their shift, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely completion of all operational tasks. They allocate work, monitor performance against KPIs, and coach colleagues on best practices and compliance. Supervisors are the first point of escalation for operational and personnel issues and function as a bridge between operatives and management. They enforce health, safety, and security standards, maintain stock accuracy through cycle counts and checks, and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise efficiency and service quality on the floor.
Day‑to‑Day Operational Management
- Lead the team during the shift to ensure all tasks (inbound, picking, packing, replenishment, outbound, returns, production/personalisation) are completed to standard and on time.
- Allocate work to colleagues, balancing resources against workflow and priorities set by the Operations Manager.
- Monitor progress throughout the shift, resolving issues quickly and escalating where required.
- Conduct effective shift handovers, ensuring continuity of operations.
Shift Team Leadership
- Directly manage a team of warehouse operatives, setting expectations for productivity, accuracy, and behaviour.
- Provide clear briefings at the start of shifts, communicating priorities, safety reminders, and performance targets.
- Motivate and support the team, recognising good performance and addressing underperformance.
- Function as first point of escalation for team issues, escalating to Operations Manager when appropriate.
Stock Control & Accuracy
- Ensure operatives follow correct processes for scanning, put away, picking, and replenishment.
- Conduct spot checks and cycle count on shift to maintain stock accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve immediate stock discrepancies, escalating patterns or key issues.
- Monitor handling of damages, returns, and quarantined stock to ensure compliance.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor team KPIs in real time (pick/pack rates, accuracy, errors, throughput) and take corrective action where needed.
- Identify process or workflow issues and suggest improvements to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure colleagues follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times.
People Management & Development
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of warehouse operatives.
- Coach colleagues on best practice and reinforce training on systems, equipment, and safety.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and conduct within the team, raising issues to the Operations Manager.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect.
Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure colleagues comply with H&S requirements: correct PPE, safe manual handling, and adherence to safe systems of work.
- Conduct daily safety checks in work areas (housekeeping, equipment, walkways).
- Immediately report and investigate accidents, near misses, or unsafe behaviours.
- Enforce compliance with company policies, security rules, and loss‑prevention measures.
Operational Communication
- Deliver clear daily briefings and toolbox talks.
- Maintain effective two‑way communication between operatives and management.
- Provide accurate reporting of shift activity, issues, and outcomes to the Operations Manager.
