We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our LFC Foundation as a Football Development Casual Coach.

In this role you will support and develop all players within the group to attain the highest levels of performance in a safe, secure, and supportive environment and drive and nurture a positive culture within the training group.

Be a coach who makes the Football Development Programme a place where players learn, have fun, and develop a love for the game To be successful in this role you will have experience of working with young athletes, with a football environment.

You will have an understanding of the modern young player in terms of their physical and psychological development, including an up to date understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.

You’ll have experience in roles, which have brought an understanding of how children learn and develop such as teaching.

You’ll be willing to commit to working evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

You will demonstrate a willingness to flex and change with the demands of a situation.

You’ll showcase an interest and genuine care about player needs.

Providing players personalised support and communication.

You are innovative and open minded; Unafraid to try new things in pursuit of developing and engaging players.

What you will be doing?

  • LFC Foundation Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate coaching sessions, following a training programme.
  • Provide input to the development and ongoing improvement / adaptation of the coaching curriculum.
  • Coach in a way that ensures players are encouraged to ask questions and seek feedback for improvement and clarity.
  • Ensure players are encouraged to have input to footballing decisions and their own learning process.
  • Ensure players are communicated the why’ as well as ‘what’ of decisions.
  • Ensure players know and understand the purpose and ‘why’ of training sessions.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities.
  • Input into selection decisions (e. g., attend trials and take part in selection decisions post-trial)
  • Work across age groups (coach is likely to hold responsibility for one age group and work with different groups from time to time)
  • Work with individual players set appropriated development targets with a plan to work towards
  • Provide feedback to players (using technology where appropriate)
  • Monitor and evaluate player development and provide feedback to players and parents/carers on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with and work closely with coaches, medics and performance staff regarding player development, and prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Ensure all games and festivals are well managed with a development philosophy clear to players and parents/carers.
  • Be available to players to offer advice, guidance and support on football and personal matters.
  • E. g., ensure they are managed well through things like injury and other challenges that could affect their performance and wellbeing.
  • Ensure player behavior in the group reflects what is required.
  • Work with the Safeguarding Manager to ensure that the wellbeing and welfare of all players and staff is always an operational priority.
  • Other responsibilities
  • Ensure all pathways and opportunities are inclusive and accessible to all
  • Ensure effective collection of all monitoring and evaluation data
  • Record data on LFC Foundation databases.
  • Provide timely reports and analysis of performance
  • Ensure the safeguarding of participants and staff is at the forefront of all decisions and Foundation safeguarding policy is adhered to at all times.
  • Provide content for LFC Foundation social media
  • Support other Foundation programmes and activities as required

Who we are looking for?

Essential Knowledge

  • Experience of delivering a football programme to ages ranging from 4-14 years
  • Knowledge and experience of working in community/grassroots football
  • Experience in football coaching across the boys and girl’s game.
  • Understanding of football structures and development pathways at local, regional and national level in relation to talent identification
  • Project management skills – to plan, set and achieve objectives within strict deadlines.
  • Experience of writing reports and excellent IT skills.

Essential Skills

  • Experience and/or qualification in talent identification
  • Flexibility of availability to work evenings and weekends if required
  • FA Level 2/UEFA C or above coaching qualification
  • FA DBSFA Safeguarding Children
  • FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAi F) or FA Emergency First Aid.

Desirable

  • Experience of developing and delivering coach education curriculum

This position is a casual position working variable hours across the week including daytime, evening, weekends and public holidays.

The role is based at our Player Development Programme in locations across Merseyside.
