We are recruiting for a Data Engineer to be responsible for the continued development and improvement of the club’s data platform. Responsibility for technical direction and architectural standards across data pipelines, warehouse infrastructure and model deployment. Working closely with Research Systems, Data Science and Performance Insights, the Data Engineer ensures that our data infrastructure remains reliable, scalable and aligned with the evolving needs of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines supporting analytical and performance workflows.
- Contribute to the development and optimisation of Snowflake as the club’s primary data warehouse.
- Support model deployment and production workflows.
- Work within established standards across orchestration, containerisation and CI/CD processes.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and colleagues across teams to deliver maintainable solutions.
- Support the phased transition away from legacy systems as part of longer-term platform evolution.
- Ensure good standards of documentation, testing and operational robustness.
- Contribute to performant usage of large-scale tracking data for analysis, including support for key moment retrieval and downstream modelling.
Technical Requirements
- Experience with AWS (preferred) or comparable cloud platforms.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with data warehousing (Snowflake desirable).
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g. Dagster, Airflow).
- Experience implementing CI/CD practices for data systems.
