About The Role

The Combined Authority (CA) is entering an exciting period of change and growth, and we are looking for a skilled and committed Technical Accountant (Investments) to deliver a high‑quality technical accounting service that informs organisational decision‑making and supports the production of the financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Account for the organisation’s equity investments and loans, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Perform impairment reviews and Expected Credit Loss assessments in line with relevant accounting standards.
• Provide financial reviews of information received from the Combined Authority’s Joint Venture.
• Interpret and apply accounting standards, communicating implications to finance and non‑finance colleagues.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant.
• Strong technical accounting acumen with detailed knowledge of applicable accounting standards and conventions.
• Excellent financial management and analytical skills.
• Significant involvement in year‑end closedown processes, challenging closure timescales or experience of working in an external audit team.
• Team‑player mindset, collaborative across finance and wider business, with strong IT skills for complex spreadsheets.
