About the Role

The Combined Authority (CA) is entering an exciting period of change and growth, and we are looking for an ambitious, highly committed Trainee Accountant with the skills and drive to deliver a high-quality service that enables and informs organisational decision-making. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and opportunities that exist both now and in the future. You will be responsible for supporting various areas of the Finance Team with a focus in the Systems, AI & Transformation team. The role will be varied and will offer excellent "on the job training"; we will also support your professional training to achieve a recognised accountancy qualification. About the person

The successful candidate will have taken the first steps in the finance career and will have already registered with a CCAB body to begin their professional training. Strong numeracy and IT skills will be required as will strong interpersonal skills and the ability to take the initiative to support the delivery teams across the authority. We are looking for an ambitious, highly committed, skilled and proactive individual with a focus on delivering an exceptional, high quality service which enables and informs organisational decision making.

Key essential criteria

  • A part qualified or student CCAB or CIMA accountant with experience of working within a finance or business support role in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workloads to meet deadlines with a desire to learn and progress by undertaking necessary training.
  • Good ICT skills (particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams) demonstrating the ability to assist in the delivery of finance system and process improvements, including the use of AI and advances in technology.
