About The Role

The Liverpool City Region has an incredible story to tell and we’re looking for a creative, innovative, dynamic and experienced Head of Corporate Affairs to take the lead in sharing our vision with Government and key stakeholders. In this role, you’ll lead and direct a strategic approach to government relations, stakeholder management, event management and media messaging ensuring that the Combined Authority and our regional partners speak with one coherent voice, enhancing our reputation and influencing policy for the benefit of the region.

You’ll proactively shape our relationship with government ministers and officials and monitor government activity to make sure we make the most of all opportunities to influence it. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the Strategic Communications and Corporate Affairs directorate, other Combined Authority directorates and partners, providing effective briefings, arranging meetings and delivering campaigns with real impact.

About The Person

To succeed, you’ll have a record of achievement in a similar role and of operating in a complex environment, preferably in local government or a relevant policy body and experience working with or for central government. You’ll be a skilled leader, influencer, negotiator and collaborator, able to lead, inspire and motivate others with credibility and integrity.

Skilled in working with politicians, officers and other stakeholders, highly developed written and oral presentation skills with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and comprehensible way are a given, as is the ability to work at pace and under pressure, prioritising work against competing demands to meet challenging deadlines.

Essential Criteria

  • An extensive understanding of parliamentary procedure, legislative procedures and policy making processes – across national, regional, local and devolved government
  • A good understanding of the political and devolution policy landscape
  • Experience of working in a public or parliamentary affairs environment
