Overview
Virtual School Education Officer for Liverpool City Council's Virtual School.
We are recruiting for one permanent position and two fixed-term posts to strengthen our capacity to support care-experienced children and young people.
The role involves promoting educational achievement, attendance, participation and progression, in collaboration with schools, social workers, carers and other professionals.
You will contribute to the development, quality assurance and monitoring of Personal Education Plans (PEPs), track educational progress and outcomes, and provide advice and challenge to partner agencies to improve life chances for vulnerable children and young people.
Responsibilities
- Promote educational achievement, attendance, participation and progression of care-experienced children and young people, and children with a social worker.
- Work closely with schools, social workers, carers and other professionals to ensure children receive the support they need to achieve their potential.
- Contribute to the development, quality assurance and monitoring of Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
- Track educational progress and outcomes; provide advice and challenge to partner agencies.
- Support multi-agency approaches that improve life chances for Liverpool’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience of working within a school, local authority or similar setting.
- Experience of multi-agency partnership working.
- A track record of supporting vulnerable children and young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a supportive team.
- A commitment to inclusion, equality and improving opportunities for care-experienced children and young people.
- A Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline is essential; a qualification in education, youth work, social care or a related field would be advantageous.
