Overview
In this role you will lead a team of Independent Reviewing Officers, Child Protection Chairs and Fostering Reviewing Officers within the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Unit to ensure high-quality, outcome-focused plans for children and young people. You will drive continuous improvement in practice standards and support workforce development in partnership with the Workforce Academy. The post emphasises collaborative working with internal and external partners to reduce risk and improve outcomes. The role offers a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and high-performance culture in a values-driven council.

Responsibilities
- Manage a multidisciplinary team (IROs, CP Chairs, Fostering Reviewing Officers) to maintain strong oversight of plans
- Ensure high-quality, purposeful plans for children and young people to improve outcomes
- Lead continuous improvement in service delivery and practice standards with the Workforce Academy
- Conduct quality assurance audits and challenge practice to reduce risks and build on strengths
- Foster a high-performance culture and support team development through reflective supervision
- Champion good practice and maintain consistent quality across partnerships
- Oversee the consistency of practitioner practice and wellbeing, with an inclusive approach
Key requirements
- Social work qualification and registration (sound knowledge of Children’s legislation, statutory guidance, policies and frameworks)
- Experience as an IRO or CP Chair in Children’s Social Care
- Proven track record in leading service delivery improvements and quality assurance
