About the role
Senior Planning Officer will be based in one of the area teams within the Planning Service.
In this role you will carry out a full range of development management functions, including assessing all types and scales of planning applications.
You will conserve the City’s heritage whilst enabling appropriate development across the City to provide a modern, customer‑focused and business‑friendly service.
- Assess and process all types and scales of planning applications, including consent for display advertisements and demolish/alter Listed Buildings.
- Carry out necessary consultations and negotiations.
- Prepare recommendations and reports.
- Attend Committee meetings as required.
- Deal with appeals against planning decisions.
- Prepare the Council’s case and present evidence at public inquiries and hearings, where appropriate.
