Liverpool Children and Young Peoples service are on an exciting journey in its implementation of Family Safeguarding. The transition to Family Safeguarding will support and tackle the impact of abuse and neglect upon children and young people by adopting a whole family and systemic approach to promote change. Through our Model of Practice and using Motivational Interviewing techniques, we will collaboratively empower and engage parents and carers to make their own positive changes to support children and young people to remain safely at home or within their wider network.
The role of the Mental Health Practitioner will be a critical role within our Adult Worker Practice Hub alongside other disciplines (Probation, Police, Mental Health and Substance Misuse). You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working to support children, young people and their parents/carers.
Main duties of the job:- As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will have a recognised core mental health qualification and strong experience of completing comprehensive adult mental health assessments, providing high quality suitable interventions, support, and safety planning in a timely manner, where poor adult mental health is a significant concern.
- You will have a proven career background in adult mental health and be skilled in providing practical support and strategies in response to urgent needs.
- You will be able to easily build trusting relationships, supporting those who are experiencing mental health issues.
- You will have experience of working and collaborating with a wide range of multi-agency professionals establishing clear referral pathways and risk management, to ensure harm or likely harm is minimised and optimum outcomes are achieved.
- You will have strong knowledge of all relevant legislation, safeguarding protocols and procedures relating to Mental Health, being able to effectively provide clear advice on mental health management.
