Major Events Volunteer and Workforce Manager
Liverpool City Council is looking for a dynamic and driven individual to lead the volunteer and workforce legacy of Liverpool's largest sporting events.
Role Overview
As the Major Events Volunteer and Workforce Manager, you will develop, coordinate and deliver volunteer programmes across major sports and cultural events, including UEFA EURO 2028, the Tour de France Stage Finish and the Inclusive Sport and Culture Festival.
You will manage recruitment, role allocation, training, deployment, workforce planning and volunteer welfare, ensuring volunteers are fully integrated into event operations and spectator experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, coordination and delivery of volunteer programmes across Liverpool's major sports and cultural events portfolio.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, role allocation, training, deployment, workforce planning and volunteer welfare across multiple events.
- Develop accessible, inclusive and sustainable volunteering opportunities that broaden participation and create lasting community benefits.
- Build a skilled, motivated and event‑ready workforce through training pathways and performance management.
- Work with event organisers, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into event operations and spectator experiences.
- Monitor performance, evaluate impact and contribute to creating a long‑term volunteering legacy for Liverpool and future major events.
