The role: We are proud of our early careers offer and our commitment to creating more opportunities for young people across the city. To support this ambition and ensure our programmes are well delivered, high quality, and impactful, we are establishing a dedicated Early Careers Team. This is an exciting time to join us. We have two roles available — one focused on supporting the Council and one working closely with maintained schools — both playing a key role in shaping and delivering our early careers provision.

The post holders will:

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of the Council's early careers and professional development programmes, including apprenticeships, graduate schemes, supported internships, and work experience opportunities.
  • Work closely with managers, learners, and training providers to ensure a high-quality experience across recruitment, onboarding, development, and progression.
  • Support maintained schools to access and maximise apprenticeship opportunities, helping them to utilise funding effectively to meet current and future workforce needs.
  • Proactively drive apprenticeship uptake across schools by providing expert advice and coordinated support from initial recruitment through to successful completion.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification, or equivalent experience, in learning and development, apprenticeships, early careers, workforce development or a related area.
  • Experience of coordinating or supporting early careers programmes, such as apprenticeships, graduate schemes, or other funded learning pathways.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, providing advice, guidance, and coordinated support to meet differing needs.
  • Experience of monitoring learner progress and supporting positive completion and progression outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and engage confidently with managers, learners, providers and colleagues.
