Job title: Communications & Engagement Lead – Children’s Services

Role Overview

You will lead strategic communications and engagement activities that support our Children’s Services directorate. The role involves planning and delivering clear, accessible and engaging communications aligned with service priorities, building confidence with staff, partners and residents. Campaigns cover recruitment, attendance, inclusion and outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of strategic communications and engagement initiatives.
  • Craft and manage high‑quality content across multiple channels.
  • Provide professional advice to senior stakeholders and manage reputational risk.
  • Translate complex information into clear messages for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with schools, safeguarding, early years and SEND organisations to align messaging and maximise reach.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven record of campaign delivery and media relations.
  • Strong understanding of Children’s Services and the education sector is desirable.
  • Confidence working across a variety of communication channels and partner collaboration.
