Overview

As Communications and Engagement Lead, you will shape how the Council informs and involves residents across neighbourhoods, highways, transport, and parks. You’ll craft integrated plans that support Council priorities and improve outcomes for residents, working with neighbourhood teams, elected members, and partners. Your role is to translate complex information into accessible content, manage strategic stakeholder relationships, and provide senior-level communications guidance. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of integrated communications and engagement plans aligned with Council priorities
  • Collaborate with neighbourhood teams, elected members, service leads, community organisations and partners
  • Design and deliver engagement approaches that reach diverse communities
  • Translate complex information into clear, accessible content
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and provide strategic communications advice to senior officers and members
  • Support prioritisation and quality delivery in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

Key requirements

  • Substantial experience in communications, engagement, public relations, marketing or related discipline
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills
  • Experience planning and delivering community engagement activities
  • Track record of building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines
