The role

Join us as a Cemetery Driver Operative within our Greenspaces Team. As part of the role of Cemetery Driver Operative within the Greenspaces Service your primary function will be required to support the interment process; facilitating the excavation, burial & back-filling of burial plots in addition to covering other day-to-day tasks associated with the service area. You are required to accurately follow Grave Digging Instructions (GDI’s) to identify correct plots and work in a time sensitive manner. You will be required to drive & operate a range of vehicles, small plant, machinery and hand tools to fulfil your duties, always working in accordance with relevant legislation, council policies, procedures, RAMS & Tool Box Talks. You are required to work safely, proactively and with accuracy to ensure our services offer best value for our customers. You are required to work in an outdoor environment all year round demonstrating the physical requirements of the role. The service operates a 3-person rota covering weekend standby arrangements and you will need to commit to this 1 in 4/5 weekends to be considered for the post. An additional daily allowance of £44.67 will be paid for days on standby plus any relevant overtime payment.

To be eligible to apply for the role you must hold a full UK driving licence (category B) and knowledge of health and safety requirements associated with the role. You must be able to work as part of a team and have good verbal and written communication skills.
