The role:
As Group Finance Manager (Capital Projects and Investments), you will be responsible for strategic level reporting, providing high quality technical financial advice, guidance, and support to senior management and for supporting in capital financial planning. You will enable effective decision-making by ensuring financial resources are used efficiently, risks are managed effectively, and financial goals are achieved.
The post holder will need to be a fully qualified member of a recognised accountancy body (e.g., CCAB/CIMA).
Key responsibilities:
- As Group Finance Manager, you will lead a finance team in managing the accounting and financial reporting of the Council\βs capital programme
- The post holder will collaborate with senior management teams, providing financial expertise and guidance in relation to budgeting, financial planning, and performance management
- The Group Finance Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on financial matters
- Support the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives
- As Group Finance Manager, you will monitor and analyse financial performance, providing timely and accurate management information, reports, and forecasts
- You will conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
- The post holder will identify areas of financial risk and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and month-end processes
- The Group Finance Manager will contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools
