The role You will oversee the development and updating of financial business models, providing insightful feedback to the service on model outputs. In addition, you will be responsible for reporting, providing high-quality technical financial advice, guidance and support to senior management and for supporting the Finance team in all financial management. You will enable effective decision-making by ensuring financial resources are used efficiently, risks are managed effectively, and financial goals are achieved. You will be a member of a recognised professional accountancy body (CCAB/CIMA) or have suitable qualifying experience and be prepared to become a CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis and provide insightful financial advice and challenge to managers and service leads to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance, produce clear, concise and timely reporting to senior leadership and elected members.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to operational teams, influencing service design and delivery with sound financial analysis and providing financial expertise and guidance in relation to budgeting, financial planning, and performance management.
  • Support the development of robust financial strategies and business cases, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Drive efficiency, innovation, and financial resilience across Housing and Homelessness services through data-led insight.
  • Identify areas of financial risk and assist in developing mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, relevant financial regulations, policies, and service specific statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and month-end processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
