The role of Operative involves working city-wide as part of the Recycling and Waste Service. This role involves carrying out safe, timely and efficient waste collections using a full range of manual and mechanical methods of operation, working closely with colleagues to ensure high service standards are maintained across the city.

As part of the role, you will be required to present items for collection to the vehicle using appropriate tools and safe manual handling methods and where appropriate safely operate the vehicle mechanism for loading and emptying and return waste receptacles to place of origin once emptied.

You will be required to carry out multiple collections each day ensuring collections are completed in line with targets. This role requires working in an outdoor environment all year round, includes repetitive tasks, and involves walking for long periods of time.
