What the Job Involves

  • Managing the Strategic Property Team to ensure efficient and effective management of the Council's property assets.
  • Preparing and implementing strategic advice concerning the management and future direction of the Council’s Land and Property portfolio.
  • Determining the allocation of space within the Council’s administrative buildings and supporting statutory obligations associated with asset valuations.
  • Overseeing the Annual Asset Valuation programme, including valuations for accounting, disposal, acquisition, lease, and insurance purposes.
  • Conducting property reviews to rationalize the Council's estate, identifying development opportunities, and assisting with land and property development projects.
  • Implementing the Council’s school playing fields improvement programme and managing the shops portfolio following good estate management practice.
  • Providing professional property advice for decision-making and maintaining comprehensive records, including a statutory asset register and annual valuations.
  • Managing the Council’s rating liability to ensure accurate valuations and appropriate charging, contributing to the Team’s business plan and targets.
  • Ensuring operational assets and shopping parades comply with building, health and safety, and fire safety regulations through suitable risk assessments.
  • Implementing Information Security and Data Protection policies to protect information assets and reporting security incidents.
