Paralegal Apprenticeship with Data Law via Knowsley Works (Candidates must reside in Knowsley).
Employer overview
Liver Law Solicitors is an established and growing law firm serving the Liverpool City Region and beyond. We provide a range of legal services, including conveyancing, personal injury, civil litigation and wills and probate. Our apprentices will work alongside experienced colleagues in a supportive team and gain practical experience using modern case management systems.
The role and training
We are looking for a Paralegal Apprentice who is keen to learn and build a career in law. You will assist fee earners with day-to-day legal work and administration, with a particular focus on residential conveyancing. You will receive supervision, guidance and gradually increasing responsibilities as your knowledge and confidence develop.
Alongside your work, you will complete the Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship with Datalaw via Knowsley Works : 13 months of training, with up to four months available for the final assessment. Training includes workshops, one-to-one sessions and supported learning during working hours, covering client care, file management, legal ethics, research, communication and document drafting, with conveyancing as the intended specialist module.
Our aim is to help you develop into a Conveyancing Assistant and, following successful completion of the apprenticeship, secure a permanent full-time position with Liver Law. There may also be scope to continue learning through further qualifications such as Advanced Paralegal, Conveyancing Technician and ultimately Licensed Conveyancer. Progression will depend on your performance, successful completion, the availability of suitable roles and the relevant entry and funding requirements.
Key responsibilities
All legal work will be undertaken under supervision, with tasks introduced as your skills develop.
- 1. Assist fee earners with the day-to-day progression of conveyancing matters, learning how a transaction moves from initial instructions to completion and registration.
- 2. Help open and maintain client files, enter information on the case management system and keep records and documents accurate and up to date.
- 3. Assist with gathering client information, identity documents and paperwork required for client onboarding and compliance checks, referring queries to your supervisor.
- 4. Prepare routine correspondence, forms and draft documents for review and approval by a fee earner.
- 5. Communicate professionally with clients, estate agents, other solicitors and third parties, taking messages and providing updates authorised by your supervisor.
- 6. Assist with requesting searches, organising property documents, monitoring outstanding information and preparing completion and post-completion paperwork.
- 7. Learn to carry out basic legal research and identify issues that need to be referred to a fee earner, while protecting client confidentiality and personal information.
- 8. Attend training, complete apprenticeship assignments and assessments, act on feedback and take an active role in your own learning and development.
- 1. A genuine interest in law and conveyancing, with enthusiasm to learn and develop a long-term career.
- 2. Clear written and verbal communication and a polite, professional approach to clients and colleagues.
- 3. Good attention to detail and a willingness to check work carefully for accuracy.
- 4. Good organisation and time management, with the ability to follow instructions and meet agreed deadlines.
- 5. Confidence using computers, email and Word, and a willingness to learn our case management systems.
- 6. Reliability, teamwork and the confidence to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
- 7. Discretion and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- 8. Commitment to completing the apprenticeship and applying learning to practical work.
Qualifications required
Applicants must hold GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 (formerly grade C) or above, as
required by Datalaw for entry onto the Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship. Previous legal
experience or formal legal qualification is not essential; we are looking for enthusiasm, a
willingness to learn and a commitment to developing a career in law.
