We’re looking for an enthusiastic Junior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team at LiveLink Technology. In this role, you’ll focus on site reliability, helping to ensure our infrastructure and services run smoothly, efficiently, and reliably. You’ll work closely with experienced systems engineers and DevOps professionals to maintain system uptime, respond to incidents, and contribute to building scalable, resilient systems that power our products.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability metrics across production and staging environments
  • Assist in responding to system alerts and incidents, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of applications and services in cloud and on-premises environments
  • Help maintain and improve system documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support outside of regular business hours
  • Assist with routine system maintenance tasks including patching, updates, and configuration changes
  • Work with development teams to understand application requirements and support reliable deployments
  • Contribute to automation efforts by writing scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency
  • Help implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify issues
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to preventative measures
  • Support capacity planning efforts by tracking resource utilisation and growth trends
  • Collaborate with team members on infrastructure improvements and reliability initiatives

Skill Stack:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 0-2 years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, or related field (internships and lab experience count)
  • Basic understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line tools
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and load balancing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to urgent issues
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing infrastructure needs
  • Basic understanding of system administration best practices and security principles

Wow Factors:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Basic scripting ability in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages
  • Exposure to configuration management tools like Terraform
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
  • Familiarity with database administration concepts (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
