Are you the kind of carer who gets real satisfaction from helping someone regain their confidence and independence after a stay in hospital? We are looking for a kind, gentle, and easy-going Live-In Carer to support a lovely gentleman who has recently returned to his own home in Taunton. He is friendly, sociable, and determined to remain as independent as possible. He doesn’t want everything done for him – he needs a carer who understands when to help, when to encourage, and when to give him the confidence to do things for himself.
About the Client
Our client enjoys getting out and remaining connected with the things that matter to him. These include:
- Spending time in his beloved garden
- Attending church
- His regular Thursday Farmer’s Market
- Chat Club
- Attending his bereavement group
- Trips to the seaside
- The occasional fish and chips lunch
- Regaining confidence within his own home
The right carer will help him continue enjoying these parts of his life while encouraging him to rebuild his strength, confidence and independence.
The Role
You’ll provide support with:
- Transfers using a Zimmer frame, including a reassuring hand on his lower back
- Supporting safe mobility
- Use of his self-propelling wheelchair, which he can independently manoeuvre around his home
- Appropriate skincare to help prevent pressure sores
- Activities of daily living
- Administration of prescribed medication
- Encouragement and reassurance
- Community activities and appointments
- Companionship and conversation
- Outings and trips using the client’s car
Car Provided
An automatic car is available for the carer’s use, allowing you to support the client with church, social activities, appointments and the outings he enjoys. A confident driver is therefore essential.
Ideal Candidate
We’d love to hear from someone who is:
- Experienced in Live-In Care
- Kind, friendly, and easy-going
- Patient and reassuring
- Proactive without taking over
- Confident supporting mobility and transfers
- Comfortable supporting someone returning home following hospitalisation
- Focused on promoting independence
- A good conversationalist
- Happy supporting community activities and outings
- A confident driver
- Looking for a regular 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation
A fantastic placement for a carer who loves seeing someone regain confidence, enjoys good conversation and would be equally happy spending time in the garden or heading to the seaside for fish and chips.
