We are looking to recruit a seasoned Lighting Technician to join our team. The role requires a varied technical skill set and the successful candidate will be a key team member helping to support our clients and bringing their events and projects to life. The role will be primarily based in Edinburgh but requires flexibility as there will be work on various sites and locations.

You will be responsible for designing, setting up and operating event and stage lighting systems. Tasks will include:

· Providing guidance on stage and entertainment lighting and related equipment to our staff and customers.

· Design of lighting systems for various event and performance types.

· Design of appropriate support, rigging and electrical supplies for lighting systems.

· Creation of specifications and quotations for jobs/projects.

· Setup and operation of lighting, rigging and power distribution for hires and events.

· Programming of lighting for shows/events.

· Preparation, delivery, collection and check-in of equipment for hires.

· Equipment maintenance and testing.

· Assisting with installation projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a technical, inquiring mind set, be a great communicator and demonstrate strong interpersonal and client-facing skills.

The role will be based in Edinburgh. It is a full-time role, primarily on a 9am to 5:30pm basis but with the opportunity for additional overtime at times of high demand.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a performance or event lighting related role. Experience of working in a rental/production company an advantage.
  • Experience of both traditional and LED lighting fixtures
  • Solid understanding of DMX, CRMX, RDM and Artnet
  • Proficiency in the design of lighting systems
  • Proficiency in the understanding of safe rigging practices
  • Proficiency in the understanding and safe use of temporary electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in the programming and operation of lighting desks
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • A full UK driving license

Salary & Hours

The role is based around a standard 37.5 hour week. Standard business hours are 09:00 to 17:30 Mon to FriIt is expected that the successful applicant will be flexible and be willing to work alternative shifts and such additional hours as the job demands including early mornings, evenings and weekends – all by agreement.

Salary range : £30 – £33k per annum + OT – dependent on experience.

We offer a competitive holiday package starting at 30 days per annum. We also aim to be flexible with requests for additional time off which can be balanced out using accrued overtime.

We also provide training to fill any knowledge gaps and to add additional skills as required for the work you will be required to do.
