THE COMPANY: Our client is a market-leading specialist in LED display solutions, providing rental, installation and operational support for some of the UK's highest‑profile sporting events, live broadcasts and corporate productions. Alongside live event delivery, they design and install permanent LED systems and provide creative content solutions for a broad range of commercial clients. Their technology is used at major televised sporting fixtures and events, delivering outstanding visual experiences seen by millions of viewers both in the UK and internationally. With continued investment in both technology and people, they are now looking to strengthen their technical team with the appointment of a LED Technical Operations Manager (Events).
THE ROLE: As LED Technical Operations Manager (Events), you will play a key role in the delivery of both live event rental projects and permanent LED installations. This is a varied position combining hands‑on technical delivery, project support, team leadership and client interaction.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing, testing, configuring and commissioning LED display systems
- Installing, calibrating and maintaining indoor and outdoor LED displays
- Configuring LED processors, controllers and associated video distribution systems
- Diagnosing and repairing LED cabinets, receiving cards, power systems and associated equipment
- Optimising image quality through colour calibration and brightness control
- Producing technical documentation, installation records and system drawings
- Preparing technical job sheets for regional deployments
- Leading LED system deployment for sporting events, live broadcasts, corporate events and entertainment productions
- Managing load‑in, live operation and de‑rig of LED systems
- Ensuring all rental equipment is fully tested, maintained and returned to stock
- Supporting Project Managers during technical planning and project delivery
- Assisting with site surveys, permanent installations and system commissioning
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and service visits
- Providing technical training and handovers to clients
- Supervising technicians, freelancers and installation crews
- Supporting the development of technical procedures, training programmes and departmental best practice
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal LED Technical Operations Manager (Events) will have strong hands‑on experience working with professional LED display systems within the live events, broadcast, sports or AV sectors.
Candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working with LED display technology
- Excellent understanding of LED systems, signal flow and video distribution
- Experience configuring LED processing platforms including Novastar (AOTO experience would be advantageous)
- Strong fault‑finding and repair skills across LED display systems
- Previous experience leading technical teams and freelance crews
- Good knowledge of power distribution and networking principles
- Experience producing technical drawings or using CAD software
- A full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to travel and work evenings and weekends when projects require
- A proactive attitude with the ambition to develop and progress within a growing business
