The Company
This long established academic institution is one of the leaders in its field. With a renowned and well established reputation in the academic field they also have a range of events space both onsite and at an additional nearby venue. With unlimited possibilities across the available space they host a range of events from large scale conferences and meetings through to training events and launch events as well as hospitality receptions and away days. Hosting events for corporates, charities and academics to name a few their close knit team work collaboratively to ensure the seamless delivery of events across the space for their varied client base.
The Role
Due to continued business growth and demand there is now a need for a Business Development Manager to come on board and help drive forward the sale of the versatile space! A broad role, responsibilities include:
- Leading on the development and implementation of a proactive sales strategy
- Developing a strong network of contacts and developing and strengthening these relationships
- Identifying opportunities for new business
- Internal and external stakeholder management
- Ensuring sales activities are delivered
- Working closely with internal teams to ensure the availability of events space and maximisation of the diary
- Working closely with the marketing teams
- Identifying and attending key industry events
- Management of a small team
The Candidate
The ideal Business Development Manager candidate will come with a proven background of strengthening and developing relationships within the MICE sector (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions). A commercial mindset is key and ideally candidates will have worked as a Business Development Manager / Account Manager / Client Relationship Manager previously. Venue or hotel backgrounds would be ideal but other backgrounds will be considered provided candidates are able to demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities and develop business. Strong stakeholder management (both internal and external) is essential.
