We are working with an established and growing organisation in the exhibitions and live events industry, who are seeking a highly organised, technically proficient Production Manager (Exhibitions & Live Events) to join their Operations team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who excels at taking ownership of production timelines, budgets, and quality checks for high-profile, international projects. The role is hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to be able to travel to the client's office, warehouse (Avonmouth), and supplier sites within and around Bristol on an ad hoc basis. The ability to travel easily across the area is essential.
The Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking for a Production Manager (Exhibitions & Live Events) who will report directly to the Head of Operations. This broad and critical position covers every element of production management, from technical specification through to final quality checks and international logistics. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping project production timescales and budgets on track, acting as a collaborative point of contact between Project Managers, Designers, the Warehouse Team, and external suppliers.
Our client is open to considering a generalist with a broad understanding of materials, construction techniques, and project management fundamentals. They are happy to consider candidates at the lower end of the experience scale who can be trained up, or someone at the higher end who can make a running start.
The key responsibilities for the Production Manager (Exhibitions & Live Events) include:
- Oversight and management of production timelines to meet shipping and event installation deadlines.
- Budget Management: Working with internal teams and contractors to agree on technical specifications for production.
- Management of goods-in procedures and regular assessment of delivered parts to ensure detailed designs are followed and quality issues are resolved early.
- Logistics & Documentation.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in a production-focused role (e.g., Technical Project Manager, Production Assistant, Production Manager). We are seeking a proactive, highly organised individual who is calm under pressure and possesses a professional demeanour. The ability to handle a fast-paced, high-volume environment working on multiple projects simultaneously is crucial.
Key experience and skills include:
- A solid understanding of materials and construction techniques. Must be able to read, analyse, and interpret construction drawings and CAD.
- Skilled at sourcing and understanding estimates, with a strong aptitude for numbers.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills to track information across projects and systems.
- IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with SketchUp or AutoCAD is advantageous.
- Full passport, driving licence, and own vehicle, with the ability to travel ad hoc within Bristol and occasionally nationally/internationally.
Candidates with backgrounds in the exhibition, tradeshow, or live event industry are preferred, but the client will strongly consider applicants from related fields such as shopfitting, design and build (architectural), furniture manufacture, product design, museum design, or model making. The key consideration is finding a highly capable individual who will be a good fit with the team and has the right aptitude for the job; specifics can be taught.
