The Role

We are recruiting for a CAD/Vectorworks Draftsperson (Freelance) to support our London-based client on a range of dynamic event projects. This CAD/Vectorworks Draftsperson role is ideal for a detail-oriented and efficient draftsperson who can quickly translate briefs into high-quality, accurate floorplans using Vectorworks. Working within a fast-paced environment, this CAD/Vectorworks Draftsperson position will play a key role in supporting project and production teams by delivering clear, practical layouts that meet both creative and operational requirements. As a CAD/Vectorworks Draftsperson specialist, you’ll manage multiple drawing tasks, adapt to feedback, and ensure all outputs align with company standards and real-world event delivery needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Floorplan Production
    • Create and update event floorplans in Vectorworks based on project briefs
    • Translate written and verbal briefs into accurate spatial layouts
  • Layout & Technical Accuracy
    • Ensure drawings reflect practical event requirements (stage sizes, sightlines, BOH areas, etc.)
    • Design layouts that support guest flow, seating plans, and operational efficiency
  • Health & Safety Considerations
    • Incorporate core H&S principles into all drawings
    • Fire exits and access routes
    • Safe circulation space
    • Appropriate seating densities and spacing
    • Compliance with venue-specific constraints
  • Drawing Standards & Consistency
    • Follow company templates and drawing standards
    • Maintain clarity, consistency, and professional presentation across all work
  • Task Delivery
    • Manage a pipeline of daily drawing tasks (new layouts and revisions)
    • Deliver accurate work to tight deadlines
    • Respond to feedback and revise efficiently
  • Team Support
    • Act as an extension of the Project Delivery team
    • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to clarify briefs and requirements

The Candidate

We are looking for a skilled Vectorworks Draftsperson to support our live event projects by producing accurate and efficient 2D event layouts. You’ll have a strong working knowledge of Vectorworks and be comfortable operating within existing file structures and templates. A solid understanding of event production and live event delivery is essential, as you’ll be translating creative and logistical requirements into clear, practical drawings that support on-site execution. This role suits someone with an eye for detail, strong spatial awareness, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure as part of a fast-moving production environment.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with staging, AV setups, seating layouts, and guest experience flow
  • Strong spatial and practical thinking skills, with the ability to translate spaces into real-world layouts
  • Exceptional attention to detail and layout logic
  • Demonstrated speed and efficiency in producing drawings and handling frequent updates
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Clear and confident communication, comfortable interpreting briefs and asking clarifying questions

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with London’s unique or heritage venues
  • Knowledge of venue-specific constraints such as rigging, access, or listed building limitations
  • Previous experience supporting production or technical teams directly
  • Understanding of safe circulation, seating densities, and venue compliance

Drawing Standards & Delivery

  • Produce drawings in line with company standards and maintain clarity and consistency across outputs
  • Manage a pipeline of layouts and revisions, delivering accurate work to deadlines
  • Respond to feedback efficiently and iterate as required

Team Collaboration

  • Act as an extension of the Project Delivery team, providing flexible drawing capacity
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to ensure briefs are fully understood and deliverables aligned
