THE TEAM

The Core Data Services team is central to Data and Analytics initiatives. We build a modern data platform to support enterprise data needs, empowering data engineers, scientists, analysts, product teams, and decision-makers to create value.

Our team includes Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Enablement, and Operations. We focus on building a high-performance, modern enterprise Data Lake, supporting current data platforms, maximizing functionality, creating valuable data assets, optimizing costs, and ensuring usability of data delivery and services. Our success is measured by these outcomes. We are seeking a Data QA Engineer — You!

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

• Document use-case based validation plans and testing strategies to prevent defects
• Develop automation tests for Core Data Platform services and tools using Python, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, AWS S3, etc.
• Participate in building our internal testing framework
• Influence service development towards quality-centric methodologies
• Develop and maintain quality standards supporting SDLC for data pipelines from development to release
• Analyze requirements to understand positive, negative, and edge test scenarios
• Execute functional and regression tests; log issues in JIRA for service enhancements
• Serve as a quality advocate on Data Engineering teams to ensure Test Driven Development processes are followed

TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

• Experience with Agile development using Jira, Confluence
• Understanding of Data Lakes and Data Warehouses
• Proficiency in Python, Spark, Scala, R, Java in Data Science
• Visualization experience is a plus
• Experience with ANSI SQL and Spark SQL
• Knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle, Google BigQuery, Hadoop, and related stacks
• Understanding of cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Knowledge of streaming (Kafka) and batch data sources
• Understanding of various data formats (xml, json, yaml, parquet, avro, delta)
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
