Job Summary:

This position will be part of Ticketmaster's global CSRE team. The team is responsible for building and maintaining core components of Ticketmaster's infrastructure, focusing on resilience and maintainability. CSRE work streams currently include release engineering, provisioning and maintenance, building and maintaining custom components, and developer enablement.

The Job:

You will be responsible for designing, building, rolling out and supporting key components across Ticketmaster's estate. Current projects include replacing our incident handling and alerting systems, reviewing and enhancing telemetry, and moving our Jira and Confluence infrastructure to the cloud. You will provide engineering leadership, and be responsible for defining architecture and delivery strategy to high quality standards. You will also be taking existing components and raising them to comply with those standards. You will think in systems—not just the software, but the people, processes, and pressures around it.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Building the frameworks, libraries, and tools that make other engineers faster.
  • Untangling and improving legacy systems, from characterising current behaviour through to shipping changes.
  • Designing for failure; building in fault tolerance, self-healing, and clear paths to scale.
  • Designing to interfaces, not vendors. Building components that speak open standards.
  • Evaluating, prototyping, and benchmarking new approaches before betting on them.
  • Adopting and developing new software development techniques, leveraging LLMs and associated technologies.
  • Ensuring work is visible, and that value delivered is clear.
  • Mentoring fellow engineers.

What You Need to Know (or Technical Skills):

  • Deep expertise in at least one programming language, and experience of applying that knowledge in other scenarios.
  • Exposure to strongly typed languages and functional programming.
  • A sense of taste; you can tell good design from bad, and articulate why.
  • Able to design at the systems level and work effectively with complex legacy constraints.
  • Open-minded about how LLMs change the craft of software engineering.

You (Behavioural Skills):

  • At home in a SAFe process—PI objectives, ARTs, the cadence of reporting—and able to satisfy it while keeping the team lean and fast underneath.
  • Humble and kind, with a supportive nature that encourages and fosters a positive environment for team members.
  • Strong opinions lightly held—opinionated but not dogmatic.
  • Skilled in managing relationships both upwards and downwards, effectively handling expectations and fostering collaboration across all levels of the organisation.
  • Listening and coaching skills, capable of mentoring and teaching, with a strong ability to synthesize information and connect disparate ideas.
  • Ability to own a problem end-to-end and finish it.
  • Takes real pride in the work, holding others to the same bar.
