Live & Breathe is looking for a freelance Social Media Lead to help strengthen and grow our social offering across the agency. This is a senior freelance role for someone who can bring confident social leadership, fresh thinking, an existing client network and hands-on support across our client portfolio. We’re looking for someone who can help us make brilliant work even sharper, deepen our existing client relationships, and play an active role in opening up new social opportunities.
The right person will be comfortable shaping social strategy, guiding content direction, supporting creative development and production and working closely with client services, strategy and creative teams. They will bring a strong understanding of how brands need to show up across social today, from always-on content and campaign thinking to channel planning, community behaviour, technical platform nuance and performance. There is a performance bonus available for securing new clients.
The Role Will Focus On Three Key Areas:
- Existing clients: Bringing senior social leadership to current client relationships, helping teams spot opportunities, strengthen recommendations and deliver work with greater clarity and confidence.
- Growth opportunities: Helping us expand the role social plays within existing accounts, turning social thinking into a more valuable, measurable and creatively exciting part of our offer.
- New business: Supporting pitches, proposals and proactive thinking, with a clear ambition to help Live & Breathe win new social-led work.
We’re looking for someone collaborative, commercially aware and naturally plugged into the social landscape. Someone who can move quickly, bring structure when needed, and help clients feel they are in thoughtful, switched-on hands. This would suit a senior freelance social specialist who has led social work for agencies or brands before and is now looking to partner with an ambitious independent agency on a flexible basis.
Responsibilities:
- Client Partnership: Bring senior social leadership to selected Live & Breathe clients, helping teams build confidence, clarity and momentum. Understand client objectives, business priorities and audience behaviour, translating them into smart, commercially relevant social recommendations. Provide expert counsel on social best practice, platform developments and cultural shifts that can improve the work and strengthen client relationships.
- Creative & Strategic Excellence: Shape social strategies, content approaches and campaign recommendations that are insight-led, channel-smart and creatively strong. Work with strategy, creative, content, influencer and production teams to develop social ideas that feel native to the platforms, not simply adapted for them. Help raise the standard of social thinking across live work, proactive opportunities and new business responses. Support measurement thinking, helping teams define what success looks like and how performance should be understood.
- Collaboration & Team Support: Plug into existing teams with clarity, confidence and momentum. Support and upskill teams working across social briefs. Bring social expertise into pitches, workshops and proactive opportunities.
- Commercial Impact: Identify opportunities to grow social work within existing accounts. Help shape social scopes, proposals and recommendations clients can understand, value and buy. Support the agency in winning new social-led work.
- Operational Excellence: Help social projects run smoothly from strategy through to delivery. Bring clarity to roles, outputs, timings and decision-making. Maintain a high standard of social work across client and agency channels.
Key Attributes:
- Strategic, commercially sharp and culturally switched on.
- Collaborative, confident and generous with expertise.
- Able to bring structure without slowing things down.
- Senior enough to lead, flexible enough to plug in.
Success Criteria & KPIs:
- Stronger social leadership across existing client relationships.
- Growth of social work within current accounts.
- Contribution to new social-led opportunities, pitches or wins.
- Sharper social strategy, content thinking and measurement across selected projects.
- Positive feedback from clients and internal teams.
- Social work delivered with creative quality, commercial relevance and operational ease.
Skills:
- Proven experience in social strategy, social leadership or integrated social campaign development.
- Strong understanding of platforms, formats, creators, culture and technical management and performance.
- Proven ability to shape effective social campaigns and content strategies.
- Confident in senior client conversations, workshops, pitches and new business.
- Commercially aware, collaborative and comfortable working freelance within an agency team.
Additional Info:
- Proven experience in social strategy, social leadership or integrated social campaign development.
- Experience leading social work within an agency, brand or senior freelance capacity.
- Confidence in senior client conversations, workshops, pitches and new business settings.
- Ability to shape effective social campaigns, content strategies and channel recommendations.
- Commercial awareness, including the ability to identify opportunities and help turn social thinking into clear scopes and sellable work.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
