At Little Tums Catering, we are passionate about preparing fresh, nutritious meals for children across nurseries and Early Years settings throughout Sussex. Based in Shoreham-by-Sea, we pride ourselves on producing high quality meals using fresh ingredients, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food safety, consistency, and care.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Commercial Chef / Production Chef to join our busy kitchen team for an immediate start. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone with solid kitchen foundations who can confidently integrate into a fast-paced commercial production environment without requiring extensive catering training. The ideal candidate will come from a culinary or catering background, either through catering college/training or previous hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen setting. Experience within commercial catering, food manufacturing, school meals, contract catering, or events catering would be highly advantageous. You may currently be a Commis Chef looking to progress or already working within a commercial or production kitchen and looking for a role with greater stability and work life balance.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working in a busy kitchen environment
  • Minimum experience at Commis Chef level or equivalent
  • A culinary/catering background through either formal training or previous work experience
  • Experience in commercial catering, food manufacturing, school catering, events catering, or large scale food production
  • Good knife skills and confidence in food preparation
  • Understanding of HACCP procedures
  • Strong awareness of allergen control and food safety
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to deadlines
  • A positive team player with a strong work ethic
  • Organised, reliable and takes pride in maintaining high standards

You will play a key role in preparing fresh, nutritious meals for children, helping us deliver thousands of balanced meals to nurseries across Sussex. Working within our structured production kitchen, you will ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and consistently to the high standards we are known for. Every meal we prepare helps support healthy eating habits for young children, and we take real pride in producing nutritious, high quality food that children enjoy.
