We are looking to appoint a Receptionist to join our friendly GP practice on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. The role involves providing a high-quality reception and administrative service to patients and supporting the wider practice team. The successful candidate will be patient-focused, organised, and able to work effectively in a busy primary care environment. This post is for 23 hours per week and is offered on National Minimum Wage, dependent on age. Experience in a GP practice and use of EMIS Web is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
Main duties of the job:
- Receive, assist, and direct patients accessing the practice, both in person and by telephone
- Book, amend, and cancel appointments using EMIS Web
- Handle patient queries in a professional, calm, and confidential manner
- Signpost patients appropriately in line with practice protocols
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records on EMIS
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including electronic communications
- Support clinicians and the wider practice team as required
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR, data protection, and practice policies
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
