The Role

As a Level 3 qualified Nursery Nurse, you will provide day-to-day hands‑on care and early learning to children in your room, working as a valued member of a small team led by your Room Leader. You'll act as key worker to a group of children, plan and lead engaging play‑based activities in line with the Curriculum for Wales, and build warm, trusted relationships with children and families. It's a hands‑on practitioner role within a nursery built around our six guiding principles, with a clear path towards Room Leader and beyond for those who want to progress.

Key Responsibilities

Day‑to‑Day Care

  • Provide attentive, high‑quality care to all children in your room, following daily routines and ratios.
  • Act as key worker for a small group of children, building strong, trusted relationships with them and their families.
  • Support children's personal, social and emotional development through warm, consistent care.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming room environment throughout the day.

Quality of Care & Early Learning

  • Plan and deliver a stimulating, play‑based curriculum in line with the Curriculum for Wales, tailored to the ages and stages of the children in your room.
  • Carry out observations, assessments and next‑steps planning for your key children.
  • Champion imaginative, child‑led play and each child's individual progress, in keeping with our Creative and Growth principles.
  • Support children with additional needs, working closely with your Room Leader and the setting's Special Needs Officer where required.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection procedures at all times, in line with the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare.
  • Maintain accurate records, including accident, incident and daily diary sheets.
  • Report any concerns promptly to your Room Leader, Deputy Manager or Nursery Manager.

Teamwork & Environment

  • Work as a supportive, reliable member of the room team, stepping in to help colleagues as needed.
  • Contribute ideas and enthusiasm to room displays, resources and continuous improvement.
  • Attend team meetings, training and CIW inspection preparation as required.

What We're Looking For

  • A relevant Level 3 childcare qualification (e.g. NVQ/Diploma in Early Years Education and Care), or equivalent.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their early development.
  • A team player who's reliable, warm, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
