Job title: Nursery Cleaner

Reports to: Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager

Purpose of the Post:

  • To maintain the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery premises.
  • To implement and promote all Little Hands Daycare policies and procedures.
  • To ensure the safety and welfare of children at all times.

Main Duties:

  • To adhere to the cleaning schedule, which is to be reviewed and updated as necessary in collaboration with the Company Director, Nursery Manager and Nursery Cleaner
  • To ensure the daily thorough cleaning of all nursery rooms including floor coverings, walls, paintwork, windows, etc. in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To ensure the daily thorough cleaning of all nursery furniture and equipment in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To ensure the daily thorough cleaning of nursery kitchens including equipment such as microwaves, fridges and kitchen cupboards, etc. in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To ensure the daily thorough cleaning of child and staff toilet areas in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To ensure the daily thorough cleaning of other nursery areas including corridors, hallways, cloakrooms, offices and all other areas of the nursery in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To maintain and communicate stock levels for sufficient supplies of domestic consumables eg. paper towels, toilet rolls, liquid soap, cleaning materials in line with the cleaning schedule
  • To carry out physical duties required during housekeeping including moving and handling operations
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties which may be required dependent upon confirmation of hours worked, for example, laundry duties, snack and lunch preparation
  • To ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered by following all setting risk assessments and COSHH forms
  • To work as part of a team and contribute positively to that staff team
  • To fulfil your role and duties to the highest level and maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude at all times
  • To be confident, hardworking and conscientious at all times, promoting good practice
  • To effectively safeguard children, report any concerns and monitor any potential risks by using early intervention methods
  • To advise the setting’s management team of any concerns (e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment) maintaining confidentiality as necessary and making ongoing accurate records
  • To be involved in out of working hours’ activities, e.g. staff training, meetings, events and other CPD opportunities
  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting
  • To keep any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job completely confidential
  • To be aware of the high profile and reputation of the company and to uphold its standards at all times, both inside and outside of work
  • To ensure high standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and on-going risk assessments are carried out
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the line managers or the management team within your setting
