Work location: Nottingham (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to: £27,625 + 20% shift allowance

Shift pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off

Must be eligible for SC Clearance (UK resident for the last 5 years) and NPPV2 clearance.

The role and what you’ll be getting up to on a day-to-day basis:

  • As a Tier 1 Cyber Security Analyst, you’ll work within our CSOC to monitor customer environments, investigate security alerts, and respond to confirmed incidents.
  • You’ll work closely with incident responders and customers, translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable insight, while helping enhance our detection capabilities and response playbooks.

You will:

  • Monitor security incidents via the ITSM platform
  • Conduct analysis using a wide range of security tools
  • Investigate alerts and respond swiftly to events
  • Help maintain the integrity of client IT infrastructures
  • Identify and contain internal or external threats
  • Conduct privileged account reviews
  • Perform vulnerability and risk assessments
  • Analyse security breaches to determine root cause
  • Contribute to enhancing the SIEM platform
  • Support continuous improvement across CSOC operations

Who you are:

  • You have experience in security operations and a strong understanding of threat detection and incident response.
  • Calm under pressure and confident in your decisions, you’re motivated by solving complex security challenges and enjoy supporting junior analysts while improving how a SOC operates.

You will have:

  • Experience in a Security Operations or similar cyber security role
  • Experience investigating and responding to cyber security incidents
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, and email security tooling
  • Strong understanding of modern attack techniques, including account compromise, malware, and reconnaissance activity
  • Knowledge of server, endpoint, and network technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical thinking, judgement, and attention to detail
  • A service-delivery mindset with strong customer focus
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

It’s a bonus if you also have:

  • Experience working as an incident responder
  • Experience enhancing detection rules or SOAR/playbook automation
  • Industry certifications such as SC-200, AZ-500, MS-500, SC-100, or SANS certifications
  • Knowledge of vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Awareness of HMG security standards, ITIL, or commercial service delivery
