Overview
Nursery Chef – Reflections Nursery and Forest School
40 hours per week – 8am – 6pm.
Occasional overtime on weekends.
Responsibilities
- To be responsible for running the kitchen, preparing tasty and nutritious meals for children and staff, as well as helping to educate children, parents and staff on healthy eating.
- To be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic catering facility and follow all relevant guidelines and policies. Knowledge of the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ document is essential.
- To understand and apply the settings’ policies and procedures, in particular Health & Safety and Food Hygiene.
Key Accountabilities
- Catering for allergies and a range of food tolerances, as well as adhering to strict dietary requirements.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene training must be kept up to date and current
- Follow allergen procedures to ensure the safety of at-risk children at all times.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic catering facility and follow all relevant guidelines and policies. Knowledge of the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ document is essential.
- Preparing and serving nutritionally balanced healthy meals and snacks.
- Ensuring that we meet and exceed Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations related to all things connected with food at the nursery.
- Attaining/sustaining a 5-star Food Safety rating.
- Creating exciting, varied menus, taking advantage of seasonally available fresh produce.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers in order to procure quality produce (locally sourced wherever possible).
- Keeping accurate stock records and will manage ordering of supplies and produce
- Take responsibility for your own continued learning and development, adapting positively to feedback and acquiring the skills and knowledge you need to deliver your role to the best of your ability. Understand and comply with all policies and procedures and where your understanding is uncertain ask for support and additional training
- Approach every aspect of your role with the highest possible level of engagement and accountability and aim to embody the Dukes values in everything that you do.
