The Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) represents the pinnacle of women’s professional football in England.
We are looking for an ambitious, innovative, and deeply passionate Social Media Manager to lead the BWSL’s social media presence, engaging core supporters and seeking new audiences with narrative-led storytelling across.
The successful candidate will execute the defined social media strategy for the BWSL.
The Social Media Manager's main focus will be to lead the day-to-day content output and ideation across its core channels, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Working closely with the strategy and insights function to produce social-first, best-in-class storytelling around the league, its players, and teams, the successful candidate will brief editors and designers.
The role focuses on content ideation, creation, publishing, stakeholder liaison and community engagement.
Previous experience in social media across sport is a must; knowledge of the BWSL, its teams, and its players is desirable.
Having a deep understanding of content formats and algorithmic nuances across platforms is essential.
Weekend and out-of-hours work will be needed in line with the Barclays WSL fixture list.

- How You'll Spend Your Time
- Leading the day-to-day creation and planning of social-first, best-in-class storytelling tailored for English-speaking markets.
- Overseeing the daily content output, scheduling, and formatting across the Barclays WSL channels: Instagram, Facebook, and X.
- Briefing and collaborating with video editors and graphic designers to produce high-quality, engaging visual assets.
- Working closely with the strategy and insights team to analyse performance data and refine content based on algorithmic nuances and platform trends.
- Driving fan growth and engagement by actively managing and interacting with the WSL’s following
- Executing live coverage, real-time updates, and reactive content during game days
- Maintaining strong relationships and smooth communication loops between Little Dot Sport, the BWSL, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensuring all international output accurately reflects and elevates the BWSLs identity
- Staying ahead of emerging digital trends, platform updates, and content formats to keep the league’s international channels competitive and innovative.
- What You Need To Succeed

- Proficient across major social networks, including Facebook, X, and Instagram.
- Strong capability in analysing and reporting platform performance metrics.
- Demonstrated history of producing and distributing highly engaging, entertaining, and informative content.
- Deep familiarity with football-related social content and trends.
- Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, with After Effects knowledge considered an asset.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities – you are someone who is able to confidently communicate and liaise with senior or high-profile stakeholders.
- Clear understanding of live football match-day cycles and dynamics.
- Skilled in managing large online communities, facilitating discussions, and delivering reactive content.
- Experienced in coordinating and briefing creative teams, including editors and designers.
- Able to execute swift editorial choices in fast-paced environments and clearly outline strategies to stakeholders.
