This critical role is at the heart of helping businesses meet their compliance obligations under the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). As a certified ESOS Lead Assessor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that businesses meet government criteria by reviewing and approving key aspects of their compliance programmes. Your Mission
As the Lead ESOS Assessor, you will take ownership of the ESOS compliance process, ensuring that client audits meet all necessary criteria. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing total energy consumption calculations to ensure compliance with ESOS regulations.
- Overseeing the determination of assets and activities that account for significant energy consumption (at least 90%).
- Confirming the necessary certifications and supporting evidence for alternative compliance routes.
- Assessing the competency and experience of those involved in client audits, where applicable.
- Conducting thorough reviews of all audits and ensuring they meet ESOS compliance criteria.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to clients, delivering a seamless one-stop shop compliance service where required.
- Collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to take control of the sustainability side of clients' needs ensuring the success of each ESOS project.
- Creation of detailed energy management plans on behalf of key clients.
- Performing energy audits when required.
- Creating a team of qualified auditors to meet demand.
- Upskilling of Sales staff to better their knowledge.
Requirements
- ESOS Lead Assessor certification (registered on the ESOS page of the Gov.uk site).
- Proven experience in energy auditing and compliance, ideally within the ESOS framework.
- Excellent understanding of energy consumption analysis and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details to clients, including presentations or workshops.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Must be computer literate and conversant with major software including word processing and spreadsheet packages.
- Good interpersonal communication, management and organisational skills.
- A thorough knowledge of current energy and carbon management legislation.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of current and future environmental legislation.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues and the need for safe methods of working.
- A full UK driving license is essential to be considered for this position.
- In-depth knowledge and successful experience of dealing with corporate accounts and clients.
- Able to exercise initiative and prioritise duties accordingly.
