About the role
As a Vehicle Technician Apprentice, you'll combine hands‑on experience in our dealerships with structured training and the support of an experienced mentor. You'll work towards achieving an IMI Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Servicing and Maintenance, setting you up to become a fully qualified Vehicle Technician. You don't need previous experience in the automotive industry to apply. We don't expect you to know everything already, that's what the apprenticeship is for. If you're curious, motivated and willing to learn, we'll give you the training, support and mentoring you need to succeed and build a long‑term career as a Vehicle Technician. If successful, you will be required to attend the Mercedes Training Academy in Milton Keynes as outlined below.
Responsibilities
- Learn to service vehicles, checking and maintaining them following clear instructions.
- Learn to diagnose, repair and replace vehicle parts and components.
- Carry out vehicle checks and inspections.
- Produce time estimates for repairs and maintenance to vehicles.
- Maintain repair and service records on the in‑house computer system and for customers.
- Attend 20 separate visits at the Mercedes Training Academy, each for 4 nights, over the 3‑year period.
Qualifications
- A genuine interest in vehicles and the automotive industry.
- A willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
- A keen eye for detail.
- Grade C or Grade 4 in English, Maths and Science.
- Willingness to meet travel requirements as set out by the apprenticeship provider.
